Modelling Object Behavior: To Use Methods or Rules or Both?
نویسندگان
چکیده
Active object-oriented databases provide two means to model behavior of objects: (1) methods and (2) rules. In many cases methods and rules can be used interchangeably to achieve the same eeect. If clear design guidelines are missing and comparable situations are realized differently , information systems can become hard to understand and hard to maintain. Moreover, it is known that large sets of rules tend to lead to non-transparent systems. This paper shows that high-level semantic modeling can signiicantly help to tackle the rule-method problem.

متن کاملDeveloping Reliable yet Flexible Software through If-Then Model Transformation Rules
Developing reliable yet flexible software is a hard problem. Although modeling methods enjoy a lot of advantages, the exclusive use of just one of them, in many cases, may not guarantee the development of reliable and flexible software. Formal modeling methods ensure reliability because they use a rigorous approach to software development. However, lack of knowledge and high cost practically fo...

Qualitative spatial representation and reasoning are among the important capabilities in intelligent geospatial information system development. Although a large contribution to the study of moving objects has been attributed to the quantitative use and analysis of data, such calculations are ineffective when there is little inaccurate data on position and geometry or when explicitly explaining ...
